Manila Zoo Kind of Day

This is actually a very late post. :)

As a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing last April, We (my sisters, husband, Yomi and I) went to Manila Zoo. I am 28 years old and I have never been to any Zoo until this time. Buti na lang at sabik din mga kapatid ko pumunta ng Zoo. Well, I know Yomi is too young to remember this trip but at least at age 1 she was able to visit a Zoo. Anyway there will still be another Zoo trip in the future. Maybe when she's a little older to actually remember. I think this trip was really for the adults. :)

Anyhoooo, the entrance fee is Php 40 for adults and Php 20 pesos for children. There's a separate entrance fee per head of Php 100 and Php 50 for the butterfly sanctuary. For more information, you can call (632) 400-1884 or +63-2-57-21-30 (Manila Zoo) or (632) 522-6179 (Kinder Zoo).

Upon entering, we saw the elephant on the right and the entrance to the Kinder Zoo on the left. Aside from Maali the elephant , the zoo's oldest resident, we also saw different kinds of birds like peacocks, eagles , and an ostrich to name a few.

As we went further inside the zoo, we saw a hippopotamus, well just the back of it because it is submerged in its pool.

There's also a reptile house found at the far right of the zoo. We saw pythons, grass snakes, iguanas and turtles housed in a stone cave-like structure. Right next to the reptile habitat are the crocodiles, alligators and more turtles.

There were 2 tigers lounging inside a big spacious cage to keep them from jumping out because they are known to be great jumpers.

Manila Zoo is also home to a large Hebra - a cross-breed of a horse and a zebra.

Inside Manila Zoo is a Kinder Zoo where kids and even adults can interact with animals. After paying the entrance fee, we were assisted by one of the crews to take our pictures with the baby Caiman crocodile and a Python. We also took pictures holding different birds like macaws, cockatoos and toucans. Inside the mini zoo, we saw monkeys, more birds, tortoises, a horse ,and a pig sleeping on a slab of rock. It was really exciting and fun taking pictures with these animals.

If you are with your kids, I highly recommend visiting the Kinder Zoo as well because I'm sure the children and even you will enjoy it.

Aside from seeing different animals, the zoo also offers a lot of activities for the whole family. You can choose from horseback rising, wall climbing, and boating. There's also a hanging bridge, a zip line, a fish spa, a canteen, playground and picnic ground. Oh there's even a mini pool inside Kinder Zoo.

There are so many activities to choose from that the whole family can surely enjoy.

So if you're looking for a budget-friendly trip for the family why not check Manila Zoo out. It's old and there are probably a few animals but I think it's still worth the trip.
